Email protection scans email messages and attachments before they are received or sent. It detects infections and then removes them before they can do any damage. (See Handling Infected Email Messages for more information.)
Email protection can scan both incoming and outgoing messages, and it works with any email application that uses POP3 (for incoming) and SMTP (for outgoing) messages.
Email protection is enabled as a default. No configuration is required to protect your email messages, but you can tailor various settings to suit your work style.
To turn email protection on or off and configure settings, open the Settings window and select the Email tab.
To specify port settings and email client executables (intended for advanced users), from the Email tab of the Settings window, click Click here for advanced email configuration. The Advanced Email Configuration window opens.
